What is E-mechanism?
It is difficult to play mi (E note) in the third octave on a flute. The E mechanism is a key system to make that note easier to play. Since the E note is widely used in beautiful melody of classical or romantic period works and high-skill requiring modern music, the E mechanism is quite useful.

Are there cheaper options for a beginner flute?
Yes there are, but we do not recommend to get anything lower than the 4 models mentioned above. This is because the quality of flute is affecting the learning speed in a direct way, student will spend their time “making a sound” rather than “playing music” especially when the instrument is very hard to control. You may opt for 2nd hand yamaha/pearl flutes, but make sure to consult your teacher as there are many fake yamaha in the market. Please beware that any Yamaha flute below RM2000 is a SCAM!

I saw a flute in Lazada / Shopee and it costs me only RM300~600, can I use it for lesson?
NO YOU CAN’T. Sorry to say, that is not a flute, but a piece of metal toy. It can’t produce proper tone and very difficult to even make a sound, which causing poor learning experience and momentum. You may exposed to the risk of lead poisoning because these instrument doesn’t undergoes a proper silver plating procedure.

How often do I need to service my flute?
We recommend getting your flute serviced (also known as a “clean-oil-adjust” or “COA” or annual maintenance) once a year assuming normal use. Please visit this link for more information about flute service: https://theflutestoremalaysia.com/repair-service/

Description:
The company FMC Flute Masters was established in 1992 (Japan) by three craftsmen who became independent from the Yamaha company. They started the company as a repairing house specialized in flutes. Within two years and a half they repaired over 1,000 flutes and brought them to life for performance. Through this precious experience, they decided to start manufacturing their own flutes in order to meet the various needs of professional flutists which had been never accepted by the existing big makers. They studied and mastered both the traditional and high technology and added their own ideas to it. After repeated trials and improvements, they finally succeeded in manufacturing the ideal flutes.

The Master Made Flutes are the versatile and flexible instruments which can express the player’s individuality to their satisfaction. They are the instruments that can comply with requirements of most players.

In commemoration of Flute Masters Company 30th anniversary, they release a flute for beginners in 2022.
